Financial advice at no cost to you

The Company has appointed an independent financial adviser to give you up to two paid-for sessions of impartial financial advice on your retirement options.

A legal requirement

If you’re interested in transferring out of the Fund and the value of your Retirement Account is £30,000 or more, you are legally required to take independent financial advice before any transfer can go ahead.

To help you explore your options and meet this requirement if you do decide to transfer out, the Company has appointed Wren Sterling to advise you.

Wren Sterling

Wren Sterling is the firm of independent financial advisers that the Company has appointed to help you decide how to take your Fund benefits. The Company will pay for you to receive up to two sessions of advice from Wren Sterling.

Wren Sterling provides independent financial advice to thousands of people across the UK. They help their clients to make the most important financial decisions of their lives and keep them on track to achieve their financial goals. This includes investment advice, retirement planning, financial protection for clients and their family, and estate planning.

They’re trusted by some of the UK’s largest firms, including AstraZeneca, to advise their employees on pension and retirement options.

The advice they give you will be impartial, unbiased and based on your personal circumstances.

Timing your advice

The Company will pay for you to receive up to two separate sessions of advice from Wren Sterling.

You’ll need to think carefully when to take advantage of this offer.

For example: you may choose to take advice when you are eligible to take early retirement (from age 55), and (assuming you did not retire at that point) again when you reach Normal Retirement Age.

Once you have taken two sessions of advice from Wren Sterling, the Company will use its discretion to decide whether to fund another session of advice.

Where the Company decides not to fund another session, you would need to cover Wren Sterling’s costs.

The advice process

Wren Sterling offers a comprehensive advice service:

  • You’ll receive one-to-one advice over the phone. This will include a retirement options questionnaire, assessing your personal circumstances, your attitude to investment risk, and your views on retirement planning.
  • Your adviser will give you information on the range of retirement options and the potential to transfer benefits out of the Fund.
  • You will receive a personal recommendation and, if this is to transfer out of the Fund, impartial advice on the transfer.
  • You will receive a suitability report detailing their recommendation and the reasons behind it.
  • They will help you to complete any forms that are needed.
  • If you also have savings in the Investment Account their advice will account for these benefits.

The terms of the Company’s offer of paid-for financial advice from Wren Sterling are subject to change and will be kept under regular review.

Eligibility for paid-for advice

To be eligible for paid-for advice from Wren Sterling, you must:

  • have a Retirement Account in the Fund with a value of £30,000 or more, and
  • live in the UK.

Wren Sterling is not authorised to give advice if you live overseas. If this applies to you, you will need to find, and pay for, a suitable independent financial adviser in your country of residence.
